Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native, born in Houston on the 17th April in 1972. William John Garner worked as the chemist of Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local college. In order to continue in the footsteps of her father, she earned a degree in chemical engineering. However, because she wanted to pursue her dream as an actor, she relocated in New York to try her chance in the movie industry. In addition to appearing in Broadway plays, she also was a waitress at the nearby restaurant. Her husband of the first time Scott Foley met her on the television show "Felicity," where she appeared as a character. Garner got her first big role on the screen in "13 going on thirty" the romantic comedy which was widely praised. She played a teenage girl who was trapped within the body of an adult. Garner picked Gary Winick for the role as director. The two continued working in other films up to the time Winick passed away in 2011. Garner was appointed artist ambassador to Save the Children U.S.A. This position focuses on encouraging nutrition and literacy across the US and early childhood education. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a participant on the board of trustees of this organization, pushing for early childhood education. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) Ambassador team for the EASS program Garner has visited families on a regular basis to coach them on ways to encourage their young children to be successful.
